Adaptable Multimodal Interfaces

چکیده
In the context of pervasive environments, multimodal interaction plays a pivotal role because multimodality provides flexibility and naturalness for interaction. The challenge of multimodal interfaces in pervasive environments is then to build reliable and autonomic processing systems able to analyze and understand multiple interaction modalities and reconfigure itself in real-time. Addressing this issue, we have developed an autonomic framework called DynaMo (Dynamic multiMOdality) for the development and runtime management of multimodal interaction in pervasive environments. DynaMo is composed by a specification language dedicated to the multimodality domain and a runtime machine that instantiates these specifications. In this paper, we present the overall architecture of our solution DynaMo that is based on partial interaction models, and how these models are completed at runtime to build multimodal interfaces adapted to the local execution environment. The Evaluation of Adaptable Multimodal System Outputs
Adaptable multimodal systems are difficult to test. We present a methodology for evaluating parallel multimodal output which is generated in response to a specific set of user, device, and situation constraints. We focus on the generation of multiple variants of user interfaces for small-screen graphical devices with natural language voice output, within a system we term UI on the Fly. Our meth...
متن کاملHacia un modelo de interfaces multimodales adaptables a los canales de aprendizaje en aplicaciones colaborativas como apoyo a la educación
Multimodal interfaces allow a smooth human-computer interaction, and connection between real and digital worlds to be entirely transparent to the user. Most current educational applications using this kind of interfaces does not support collaboration and they are not adaptable. Furthermore, few models have been developed for development of these applications. In this paper, we propose a prelimin...
متن کاملUser-driven Intelligent Interface on the Basis of Multimodal Augmented Reality and Brain-Computer Interaction for People with Functional Disabilities
The analysis of the current integration attempts of some modes and use cases of user-machine interaction is presented. The new concept of the user-driven intelligent interface is proposed on the basis of multimodal augmented reality and brain-computer interaction for various applications: in disabilities studies, education, home care, health care, etc. The several use cases of multimodal augmen...

متن کاملA Flexible Architecture for a Multimodal Robot Control Interface
Despite increased activity in robotics, relatively few advances have been made in the area of human-robot interaction. The most successful interfaces in the recent RoboCup Rescue competition were teleoperational interfaces. However, some believe that teams of robots under supervisory control may ultimately lead to better performance in real world operations. Such robots would be commanded with ...
